Migrating to Jira Forge
This topic explains how to migrate your Jira Cloud integration from Jira Connect to Jira Forge and how to upgrade an existing Jira Forge installation to the latest major version.
If you have an existing integration between LaunchDarkly and Jira that you set up before March 2026, you must follow the instructions in this migration guide to maintain the integration.
If you already use the Jira Forge app and want to upgrade to the latest major version, read Upgrade an existing Jira Forge installation.
Prerequisites
To complete this migration, you must have the following prerequisites:
- A personal or service API access token. To learn more, read API access tokens.
- Administrator permissions in Jira.
Give your new API access token the required permissions
To begin, give your new API access token the required permissions. To learn how, read Give your API access token the required permissions.
Reconfigure the LaunchDarkly integration in Jira
Next, you need to reconfigure the LaunchDarkly integration in Jira, including:
- entering your new API access token
- re-selecting which environments the app should track for each of your LaunchDarkly projects

Upgrade an existing Jira Forge installation
If you already use the LaunchDarkly for Jira Forge app, you must clear and re-enter your API access token after a major version update. Atlassian does not automatically apply major version updates, so you must upgrade the app in your Jira site, then reconfigure the token so LaunchDarkly can create an updated subscription.
Upgrade the app in Jira
To upgrade the app:
- Navigate to your Jira instance’s app management page.
- Find your LaunchDarkly for Jira app.
- Upgrade to the latest version when prompted.
Re-enter your API access token
Clearing and re-entering the token creates a new subscription with the updated configuration.
To re-enter your API access token:
- Navigate to your Jira instance’s app management page.
- Click the Configuration button for the LaunchDarkly app. The “Configure LaunchDarkly Integration” screen appears.
- Clear the existing API access token.
- Enter your API access token again.
- Re-select which environments the app should track for each of your LaunchDarkly projects.
- Save the configuration.
