Automate Your Experimentation Metrics with LaunchDarkly + Segment

By Mira Cho   •   August 31, 2020

LaunchDarkly is now a Segment Destination for Experimentation

With LaunchDarkly as a Segment Destination, you can make data-driven decisions about your business and application using the same Segment source data you trust everywhere.

Start recording experiments immediately

If you're running a LaunchDarkly experiment, you can use your existing Segment track events to power the metrics. This means you can immediately start measuring results without any instrumentation, any code, or any delay.

For example, let's say your e-commerce team has set up Segment .track calls for cart checkout. Now, you can use LaunchDarkly to run an experiment on checkout flow variants and see which one results in the highest conversion by referencing the same cart checkout event.

How does it work?

Once you install the integration, your Segment events will automatically get associated to LaunchDarkly custom metrics, which are set up with the same name.

To get started, select the “LaunchDarkly” destination in Segment's Destinations Catalog. Read more about how it works (

Integrate LaunchDarkly with Segment today to receive data and run your experiments

LaunchDarkly empowers teams to safely control software through feature flags, and every flag can be an experiment. Experimentation is available as an Add-on—let us know if you want to try it out, and we'd be happy to toggle a flag for you to activate your trial today.
